Engage: Creating Possibilities For The Future

As we celebrate Women’s History Month, an annual tradition that highlights the contributions of women to events in history and contemporary society, Career Mastered, is prepared to continue the work and strive to make an impact for progress. Each year since 2015, Career Mastered has honored and recognized the remarkable political, cultural, social and economic achievements and contributions by women in history, the remarkable women in our own lives and those that inspire us around the globe. Yet, we know there’s so much more we all can do to engage and support the progress of women.

Each year in March, Career Mastered, in conjunction with its sponsors and community partners observes National Women’s History Month by selecting a theme, chooses particular women to honor nationally for their work, provide scholarships to girls, and produces the Women’s History Month Leadership Awards Program and Leadership Diversity Summit to highlight the role of women in American history. These collaborative events provide important opportunities for sharing compelling stories about women’s roles, struggles, and successes today and throughout our history.

“Engage Creating Possibilities for the Future” Career Mastered chose the theme for the 8th Annual Career Mastered Diversity Leadership Summit & Awards, “Engage Creating Possibilities for the Future.” This theme is a call-to-action for women, men, businesses, government, academia, and communities to prioritize how they engage women.

Career Mastered invites you to celebrate its 8th Annual Career Mastered National Women’s History Month Leadership in Action Award Honorees and the Diversity IMPACT 50

Honorees. These women are game-changers who are making a difference each and every day in the marketplace while giving back to future generations. We also acknowledge our Excel Village LaVerne Gardner Lindsay Stewart Scholarship recipient. Our goal is to create winning futures for generations to come. We bring education, training businesses and communities together in support of advancing women’s leadership. As we celebrate Women’s History Month, we encourage you to engage to create the possibilities for the future, now.

The impact of women’s history is a significant part of our hope to further engage women to create possibilities for the future. Yet, there so much that still needs to be done. For example, businesses must prioritize how they engage women.

According to the Harvard Business Review, women now drive the world economy. Globally, women control about $20 trillion in annual consumer spending, and that figure could climb as high as $28 trillion in the next five years. Yet, Kantar Research shared that financial services firms in the United States are failing to foster relationships with women, missing out on an estimated $782 billion in

investable assets as a result.

On a day-to-day level there are some ways we each can move the needle to make an impact to create possibilities to engage women and create the possibilities for the future.

  • Hire more women, promote them into leadership positions and ensure they’re acknowledge, recognized and compensated equally.
  • Become an Ally or Advocate for Inclusion. Speak up when you see or experience a behavior that demands change.
  • Support women-owned businesses. Seek out these businesses and become a customer.
  • Become aware of your own unconscious bias. Be sure to check your own biases.
  • Mentor a girl. Reach out to your local schools and mentor girls.

Career Mastered is working to make an impact for women’s engagement and leadership. Along with the magazine, we offer a compelling web-site, which provides curated content for and about women. It is available and widely accessible at https://www.careermastered.com.

In this issue, we share the stories of phenomenal women who have made history including Vi Lyles, Charlotte’s First African American Woman Mayor. We also honor the memories of Betty White, the award-winning golden-girl and the mark she made on history, and we give you five ways to develop your creativity, tips on how venture capital works, financial trends for 2022 and so much more.
