7 Things Most Successful Women Have In Common

BY: Dr. Sabrina Jackson

As businesswomen, being successful is the name of the game. We go into business for various reasons: to sell a product, fill a gap, provide a service, or teach others valuable information. Whatever the reason the business or career is embarked upon, we all want one thing: We each desire to be successful. It is necessary to know some facts about success:

» Success is not all about talent. When studying people who have achieved great things, having the right talents and skills is key. Stop focusing solely on what your natural gifts are and focus more on your endurance and excitement.

» Impostor Syndrome is detrimental to your success. You achieved something, then you thought it wasn’t as good as it appeared to be. Stop the negative self-talk and celebrate your wins.

» Asking questions is more important than current knowledge. The knowledge you obtained to get to a certain level of success may not be useful on the new level. Remain open to always learning something new and asking good questions.

» Success is more related to productivity than age. Oftentimes, as we grow older, we mistakenly believe that if we did not achieve things by a certain age, we have missed the opportunity. Nothing can be further from the truth. Data shows we are the most productive between the ages of 60 and 70 years old.

» Success leaves clues.

HERE ARE SEVEN THINGS MOST SUCCESSFUL WOMEN HAVE IN COMMON:

  1. Lifelong Learners: Constant learning keeps your brain functioning at maximum capacity and creates opportunities for new levels of achievement. Seeking new information opens doors, increases your likability and keeps you relevant. Keep in mind that how you learn is vast. It is not just in a book or class.
  2. Listen to Feedback: The number one reason people fail is lack of coach-ability. Successful women know they do not know it all and they are open to feedback, even if the feedback is provided harshly. As a mature woman, you must separate what is said from how it is said. Successful women seek feedback and take it gracefully.
  3. Leap into Vision/Goals: One cannot achieve a vision unless they have one. Successful women have discovered their vision. They spend time developing their goals, then deliver them to the world. We must know that our visions can excite us, as well as frighten us, all at the same time. However, dream big, plan and leap!
  4. Live on Purpose: Successful women live each day with intention. These women are deliberate creators of their daily experiences. When we do not live in purpose, we will major in the minor things in life and are rational. However, when living with intention:

-Confident Presence

-Has higher levels of clarity

-Keep things in perspective

-Progress towards what you want faster

  1. Link to Quality People: Women who succeed know they need others. They understand that their net worth is determined by their network. Engaging in self-supporting behaviors involves surrounding yourself with people of high character and integrity. Connecting with people who encourage, inspire and challenge you makes us better.

  1. Lend Support to Others: Women who are successful know that they must be of service. They use their positions, intellect and resources to help others. The support builds opportunities for you to receive support. The fact that, no matter how much money, influence or connections you have, you will need support.

  1. Limit Focus on Negativity: The successful woman knows that what you concentrate on is what grows. If you think about all the things you do not want or like, that is what will show up in your life. The Career Mastered woman is not only a positive thinker. She is a confident creator, realizing she is the captain of her own ship and the director of her real-life motion picture, with the theme song by DJ Khaled, All I Do is Win!
