Career Mastered Magazine connected with Marie R. McLucas from Primax Properties to discuss the company’s commitment to diversity and inclusion. Primax Properties is a small firm located in Charlotte, NC in the commercial real estate market. Primax focuses on building relationships with their customers and “developing more than real estate.” The team at Primax has been working in commercial real estate for 25 years and has 850+ projects under their belt, spanning all across the continental United States.
Marie shared that Primax Properties has a small workforce and that employees have an average of 15 years tenure at the company. Opportunities for new hiring are relatively limited and focus on targeted growth. Because of this, Primax Properties focuses special attention to diversity and inclusion when bringing on new employees. In addition to diversity efforts in hiring, Primax Properties provides training for employees in diversity, equity and inclusion.
To ensure quality and comprehensiveness of training, Primax partners with community organizations including CREW Network Charlotte – Commercial Real Estate Women Network, an industry-specific women’s leadership program – and the local NAACP.
To ensure all employees meet their full potential, Primax Properties also provides tuition reimbursement and continuing education. As a result of this commitment to diversity and training, several Primax employees have been honored by both local and national organizations. Additionally, Primax focuses on helping women gain leadership and executive level positions through extensive training opportunities. The company takes pride in having women in C-Suite positions and leadership roles.
Primax Properties is a strong supporter of the Career Mastered organization, a commitment Marie told us was driven by Career Mastered’s “intentional support, promotion and recognition of female leadership.” She also shared that Career Mastered “provides the programming through all life stages in professional development” and emphasized that this focus on women’s professional development was personally meaningful for her.
Primax Properties takes pride in giving back to the community. The Primax Pink Warriors team works to benefit the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer program and were the number one fundraising team for this program in 2020. Primax regularly hosts food drives to support local food banks and hosts an angel tree annually to benefit the local homeless population. Additionally, Primax Properties supports community organizations and nonprofits through board membership.
Through community involvement and intentional training, it is clear Primax Properties is focused on creating a more diverse, inclusive and equitable world. Their commitment to women’s leadership development and helping their local area are truly admirable. Career Mastered is tremendously thankful for the company’s continued partnership!
