Who’s Going To Stop Me?

Let’s get a rally chant started. It goes a little something like this:
Mock Me Block
Me Watch Me
Or Join Me.
But what you won’t do is stop me
I’m mad as hell…and I’m not gonna take it anymore. Guns, bullets, and businesses seem to have more rights in the U.S. than women. What gives? The rise and fall of nations circles back to money, power, and sex (and right now, I mean gender identity). So, to fight fire with fire, we should have some real talk about what this nation was founded on…commerce.
Bottom line up front: Women are consumers, creators, and culture-shifters. If we stop creating or stop spending money, imagine how much attention we can command…and how much more we can amplify our collective voices around the issues that matter most to us. So, if the way to someone’s ear, heart, or gut is through their wallet, purse, or fanny pack, then jump on into the Entrepreneurship pool…the water’s warm. I sense that some cultural norms are about to shift by the time you finish reading.
You didn’t know you’d be getting a science refresher and studying economics today, but can we just clap it up for Sir Isaac Newton? Consider yourself as the somebody of the laws he wrote about:

Our Daughters Deserve Equal Pay, and we do too. One of the ways that womxn can take access to equal pay into their own hands is to pursue entrepreneurship as a career path to financial independence proactively.

Honestly, unless you are stuck (pin this for a second), then you’re already a movement by yourself. AND, when women + those who support us organize to demonstrate the spirit of cooperative economics, we’re a FORCE when we’re together. To be clear, I’m not encouraging you to leave your day job and immediately join half the world’s workforce who call themselves ‘Boss.’ We’re experiencing a mass exodus from the traditional corporate workforce and that wound is still wide open. I am, though, asking you to add several sacred valuables to your proverbial community medicine bag. These will positively impact your personal economy and will likely create a healthier, happier world around you. Begin to associate yourself with these words and use them to manifest the entrepreneurial spirit within.

  • Ambition (go for it)
  • Bravery (you can do it )
  • Curiosity (lean in and make it your business)
  • Daring (huh, a challenge)
  • Energetic (and I totally mean proactive vs reactive)
  • Forecasting (estimate a future event or trend that you will lead) and
  • Zeal (you thought I was gonna start with a ‘G’ word, huh?)

From time to time, when you remember the unlimited opportunities that entrepreneurship affords, douse yourself with one of the remedies above, and repeat after me,

‘She believed that she could. And so she did. BOOM!’

Some of us have moved two steps forward since the first line of this article. However, we leave no womxn behind in the Career Mastered Leadership Network. So, let’s get back to our sisters who are stuck. When stuck, leaping is the most challenging action to take. However, everything is difficult before it is easy. So, baby steps are totally alright when building up to your leap into entrepreneurship. Here’s what taking the first baby step looks like.

Crawl before you walk by vividly imagining all of the ideas and possibilities that your future self can thank you for. Somewhere along the way, the imagination burglars entered our minds and robbed us of creating our wildly fascinating futures. Guard your future by invoking the almighty power of your mind’s artistry now. Then, give yourself free rein to think with childlike wonder. At the same time, you can allow yourself to dwell in the possibilities and what ifs of risking some comforts in exchange for a rewarding entrepreneurship lifestyle.

I can hear Alisa Rosenbaum, better known as Ayn Rand, a daughter of the age of Enlightenment call out, “The question is not who is going to let me; it’s who is going to stop me.”

So, now let’s play another word association game. When I say ‘ladies,’ you say ‘Unstoppable.’

You are at the wheel. You’re the driver in your life, career, school, and business. You decide when to brake, speed up, and cruise. So, there are no traffic violations on the road to entrepreneurship. If you choose to write yourself a ticket, pay yourself by creating a savings vehicle to fund the lifestyle you really want.

Analysis by Boston Consulting Group* shows that supporting women entrepreneurs can boost the world economy by $5 Trillion. Hello. Our ideas, our actions, and our decisions to command better pay, or at the very least, provide ourselves with an extra revenue stream flowing into our homes and thereby our communities, are a global discussion happening now in the face of economic uncertainty. Again, this is not a rallying cry for you to quit your day job. It’s a reminder to not quit on your dream.

I encourage you to measure the cost of not bringing your dream to reality. You may be blocking your capacity for time and mind freedom, endless income opportunities, and enjoyment in doing more of what you actually love. We can be honest with one another, right? An entrepreneur lifestyle is not for everyone; however, having an entrepreneurial mindset is in your best interest. If you decide to remain in the workforce, hopefully, your employer has already learned the value of creating an organizational culture that nurtures the entrepreneurial spirit…it is a best business practice to inspire self[1]leadership and risk management.

Cheering for you!
