Just the Right Amount of Beauty & Style

“Beauty begins the moment you decide to be yourself.” – Coco Chanel

This quote speaks to the power of beauty that we all have inside of us. The key is to recognize and own your beauty in order to have a genuine inside/ out reflection.

Right now, it is difficult to show the inside beauty as our outside image, as we are challenged with how to keep our beauty light lit during this time of Covid-19. In this season self-care service routines may not be in constant rotation but instead more emphasis is being put on “home” self-care remedies.

No matter the obstacle we cannot afford to allow our beauty and style to suffer. Maintaining a polished image day to day for yourself is a way to keep your spirits high, and your self-esteem intact.

Here is a breakdown of wardrobe resolutions to undertake now so you can make space, save money, and reflect the best image of yourself.

TAKE INVENTORY

It’s so easy to forget what’s sitting in your closet, and for many of us, there are many items that we have forgotten about, or that have been hidden due our current need of more relaxed clothing choices. However, if you begin to take notice of what you already have, it can help you get creative and incorporate those items in your daily look. You can also clearly see what’s missing from your wardrobe. Moreover, if the items no longer fit your style or bring you joy make room for new items by decluttering. It’s easy to get dressed when you know what you have and maintain your authentic style and confidence when all of your items are a true reflection of you.

MAKE TOUGH DECISIONS

It’s not always joyful to throw things away. To part with an article of clothing sometimes means letting go of memories which can be tough to do. However, there’s no need to hold on to your beloved fashion items especially if you no long wear these items. To effectively purge your wardrobe, start with separating your items. The pile that you haven’t worn in a while…purge. If you really can’t bear to part with something in that pile…Don’t. Instead put it on trial by placing it back in your closet and see how many times you wear it in the next six months. If you don’t reach for that item, it’s officially time for it to go. For memorabilia sake, snap a picture of your treasured item to keep but release the actual item.

INVEST IN WHAT YOU ALREADY OWN

One way to maintain your beauty and style in this season is to take care of your “go to” wardrobe items. Invest in these pieces by knowing where to get things fixed in your local area, from a great seamstress to shoe and handbag restoration companies. It’s okay to repair rather than replace some of your favorite fashion frocks that make you feel and look beautiful.

CREATE A UNIFORM

One big misconception about being stylish is that you should not buy something similar to what you already own. Of course, you should not aim to have your entire wardrobe in the same color and silhouette. However, don’t be afraid to stick to what suits you best. The most stylish women in the world have their own uniform. Keep it simple, when you know what you look good in stick to that formula when choosing new fashion styles.

EMBRACE RENTAL FASHION

The rental concept is a great way to add a little flair to your style without making a long-term commitment. It’s a notable way to add just the right amount of beauty and style to your wardrobe without leaving your home. Another advantage is that you can be a little more adventurous with what you try- you could step out of your style comfort zone and find great pieces that may have felt too risky to buy.

Adding value to your style doesn’t have to be over-whelming. I believe in the power of beauty and style and how that energy can translate into feeling good about yourself and maintaining a stylish image without compromise.
