A Giant Bold Step In The Pursuit of Gender Equality

BY: Dr. Lisa Wicker

Career Mastered congratulates The Honorable Ketanji Brown Jackson on her confirmation to the U.S. Supreme Court. She holds the honor of serving as the 104th Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS). Justice Jackson is the first Black woman on the Court. Jackson was nominated to the Supreme Court by President Joe Biden on February 25, 2022. She was confirmed by the United States Senate on April 7, 2022, and by oath, was sworn into office on June 30, 2022. She has had a stellar career in law practice on the bench, where she served for almost a decade as both a trial and appellate judge, including a United States circuit judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit Court from 2021 to 2022.

In this issue, we celebrate this historic moment — Justice Jackson — the first Black woman on the court, and that soon her voice will be added to the insights, deliberations, and decisions of the Court. Her confirmation comes at an important time given the recent Supreme Court decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, after nearly 50 years of the constitutional right to abortion as a reproductive health solution.

Gender inequality continues in the United States. Topics in this issue include gender pay gaps, Roe v. Wade, Women in the Workplace, Entrepreneurship, Health, Finance, and so much more.

Did you know that it’s time to nominate a deserving woman for a Career Mastered Women’s Leadership Award? Inside this issue, we give you “save the date” information so that you begin preparing to attend the 9th Annual Career Mastered Women’s Leadership Summit & Awards in Atlanta, GA in March 2023.  Have a wonderful Fall season.
