Live a clutter-free and simpler lifestyle with these tips!

In recent years, we’ve been seeing the minimalism trend gain a lot of traction. If you’re not up to speed, minimalism is what social media is calling the “less is more” approach to life—a trend that sparked up in response to overconsumption, fast fashion, and excessive consumerism.

The goal of the minimalist initiative is not deprivation, but to prioritize only necessary purchases, practice sustainability, and help everyone live a clutter-free and simpler lifestyle

If you have been overloaded with anxiety and stress from excess clutter you no longer want or need, then learn how minimalism can help you clear the chaos and find clarity, purpose, and value in the simpler things in life.

Clear the Mental Clutter

Minimalists believe in keeping everything clear, concise, and intentional—especially their thought process. Mental and emotional decluttering may not look or feel as structured as physically cleaning or removing objects. However, it can be a game-changer for one’s mental health.

Practices like meditation, exercise, therapy, and journaling are great ways to declutter the mind, reduce chaos and confusion, and improve one’s overall mental health. Each of these activities can help you clear your mind, express your thoughts in an organized and structured way, and identify and work through various problems

If you want to practice minimalism, start by decluttering your physical, spiritual, mental, and emotional loads.

Decluttering the online noise

Social media is a great place to start decluttering. We spend so much time online nowadays connecting with family, friends, and our communities, being entertained (and rage-baited), staying up to date on current events, getting plugged into industry-related news, and more. Yet, when was the last time you unfollowed accounts that no longer resonate with you? Are there accounts or topics that contribute more to your stress? Are there alternatives that will spark joy?

It’s important to remember the internet is something we can turn on or off. If you need to, set screen time limits on your phone, set the phone down, close the laptop, and spend some time in the 3D world.

Clear out your space

When you have some free time, take a good and thorough look at your living environment. Room by room access, do you have unnecessary items that have outgrown their usefulness or no longer work? Grab a donate bin or bag and begin filling it up. For example, you can pick a day to go through kitchen items, another day to go through bath and body products, and a different day to go through closets.

Think about why you’re holding onto each item and the purpose it serves. If the item is not a true keepsake or vital to your everyday life, re-evaluate its importance and consider if you should reduce, reuse, or recycle it.

Practicing minimalism starts with decluttering your physical, spiritual, mental, and emotional loads. Use these tips to declutter your life and find peace!
