Creating Rapid Results In Your Business

BY: Briar Dougherty

As an entrepreneur, I’m often faced with decisions that could accelerate or hinder business growth. It’s a weight that entrepreneurship carries with it. The ability to pivot, course correct, or grow with a changing market, remains ever-so-slightly attached to the invisible thread of where vision meets execution.

When those two meet harmoniously, you see a business flourish. But, when vision cannot be brought to execution, it quickly fizzles out as nothing more than an expensive hobby.

I’ve had the fortune of seeing businesses from all angles and lenses, including startups, family-run businesses, large national and global brands, and yet, they all have the same key buttons to help accelerate growth.

Product, People, & Process

Having a product or service consumers desire is by far the bread and butter of the business. And having a recipe that solves your consumer’s problem is the seed from which ideas become tangibles, and those tangibles bloom into companies. But how do they continue to create growth, and rapid growth, for that matter?

You’ll find that behind every successful business there are amazing People and Processes.

Most business owners know they need a team to run their ship, and spending a few extra  moments on your talent acquisition strategy can accelerate success. Placing the right people in the right roles can make an enormous impact on expediting growth. When employees or vendors are skilled in their niche and can hone their skills further to serve and deliver for the business, you’ll see rapid growth. Developing the roles to serve your top priorities takes practice, but never settling for  less than exceptional will keep your business cruising full sail ahead during even the toughest of times. Motivated, skilled talent can bring new ideas, innovation and resourcefulness to the forefront of a business and positively impact its growth trajectory.

Keeping these talented individuals thriving is paramount, and the solution comes from a different focal point of the business. Enter stage left, Process. Having well- documented processes means you have increased capability of pivoting on a dime, training new talent quickly and assessing needs in-real-time. The results = rapid growth. Process is the foundation of the company. It is what supports all departments, no matter how big or small the business is.

Having defined processes is just as important for the budding solopreneur as they are for the Enterprise organization. Pour a little love into this area and  you’ll see the fruits of your labor materialize very quickly!

Having effective processes help businesses scale and expand their business models. Vision always needs execution in order to bring it to market, and without an ability to translate that vision into reality, you are always caught being one step behind.

Processes allow for that translation to be smooth, understood, and  actionned on with speed and accuracy. The next time your business needs to accelerate growth and take advantage of a changing market, remember this: by having a Product people want, People who positively impact your business, and Processes that create clarity across teams, you’ll be sure to experience the success of rapid growth. Keep your eye on these important pieces of your business as it scales and expands. Losing focus in just one of these areas can create a long and unavoidable detour in the roadmap to growth. If you ever experience a lull and wonder what has happened, start by pulling your Product, People, and Process to the forefront of your attention, you’ll be sure to catch which one is underperforming, accelerating your ability to make positive change for your business.

For the aspiring entrepreneurs and thriving business owners out there, be brave, be bold, and be intentional about achieving your growth goals. This is your year for the taking!
